Hartford Botanical Garden

Current: We are currently organizing grants, donations, and volunteers to implement the next phase of the project, which will include planting a botanical garden of native shade plants behind the Connecticut Creative Store. This shade garden will open into the main area of Colt Park, and can be enjoyed by all park‐goers. In addition to beautifying the area, this garden will also serve as an educational resource about native Connecticut plants. Plaques indicating plant species and growing information will be installed along the garden pathway to inspire visitors to create their own personal native garden.
2011 May: The first phase of the project was completed when a garden was planted and a walkway was installed in front of the Connecticut Creative Store, located within the former Colt Family Estate caretaker’s home on Stonington Street.
2010 May: The Hartford Professional Chapter establishes a relationship with the Hartford Botanical Garden Foundation.
